Cais da Saudade é uma canção baseada num poema intemporal escrito pelo meu pai enquanto se preparava para entrar numa zona de combate nos anos 60. Capta o medo, a esperança e a força silenciosa que todas as famílias carregam quando alguém querido parte para a guerra — emoções que transcendem língua, época e conflito. Embora nascida de um momento específico da nossa história, a sua mensagem fala a todos os militares e a todas as famílias que esperaram, rezaram e suportaram o peso da incerteza. É uma homenagem aos que partiram, aos que voltaram e aos que nunca regressaram.
On the Heart It Weighs is a song based on a timeless poem written by my father as he prepared to enter an active combat zone in the 1960s. It captures the fear, hope, and quiet strength families carry when a loved one goes off to war — emotions that transcend language, era, and conflict. Though born from one moment in history, its message speaks to every service member and every family who has waited, prayed, and carried the burden of uncertainty. This piece stands as a tribute to those who left, those who returned, and those who never came home.
